Discover Discovery Park in 2010

Seattle’s Best Park

Seattle has some excellent city parks.

That’s why Discovery Park – the largest and most interesting park in town – is worth a visit. A three mile loop trail leads you through dense wooded areas that expand out into open clearings overlooking the Puget Sound and the Olympic mountains.

Since the park is on the Puget Sound you’re free to take a stroll along the beach or just enjoy the spectacular views provided by Discovery from the grassy field situated in the park’s northern end.

I captured this shot of a deciduous tree a few days ago in the clearing described above at Discovery Park. If you look behind the branches, you can just make out the snow topped Olympic mountains.
