Pacific Northwest Crocuses
A Start to my Spring
Even though Tulips are the traditional flower of early Spring in the Pacific Northwest, Crocuses – the flowers pictured above – are actually the first to bloom. These small purple petaled plants are part of the Iris family of flowers. Crocuses are often overlooked for larger flowers that bloom later into the Spring. Still, Crocuses are the first sign of Spring, and they serve as a stunning beginning to this season of incredible vitality and growth.
What springtime flowers are your favorites? These young Crocuses were captured at sunrise early this year in late March.
